Master of Business Administration

Admission

Please refer to "The Graduate Admissions Process" section for general graduate admission information. The following documents should be provided for admission to the Master of Business Administration program.

Registration

It is highly recommended that students take MGT 6501 Available Online as the first course in their program.

Prior to registering for your second MBA course you should:

  1. Meet with a program director or chair for a program planning conference.  Please have a transcript (unofficial transcript is acceptable) available for the conference.
  2. Submit an official transcript from an accredited college, university, or other degree-granting institution, verifying completion of a bachelor's degree. Send official transcript(s) directly from the identified college or university to the Wilmington University Graduate Admissions Office.

Degree Candidacy

Students who have met the admission requirements are advanced to degree candidacy after completing four courses with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, provided they have:

  1. Successfully completed MGT 6501 Available Online as one of the first four courses in the program.
  2. Submitted an official transcript from an accredited college, university, or other degree-granting institution, verifying completion of a bachelor's degree.  Transcripts from all institutions attended should be submitted.
  3. Completed at least three credits in undergraduate mathematics with a grade of "C" or better at the level of college algebra or higher or successfully completed the CLEP college algebra examination.
  4. Completed at least three credits in economics at the undergraduate level with a grade of "C" or better (ECO 105 Available Online , Fundamentals of Economics or CLEP economics examination).
  5. Completed Accounting I and II at the undergraduate level with a grade of "C" or better (OR students may take MHR 7830 Available Online , Finance and Accounting for Managers).
  6. Successfully completed the required writing assessment specific to your concentration (if you have chosen one.).  Candidates who do not meet the minimum College of Business standard may be required to complete ENG 365 Available Online , Academic Writing, prior to retaking the writing assessment.

Students not completing any of these items will not be permitted to continue their MBA studies until the deficiency or deficiencies have been corrected.

Professional Certification Option

Wilmington University will award graduate-level credit for certain professional certifications. The credit for these professional certifications will be applied to a like course or courses in the curriculum or be accepted as an elective or electives if there are no corresponding courses in the respective program and the professional certification is in an appropriate field of study. Examples of professional certifications include: Certified Public Accountant; Certified Production and Inventory Manager; Certified Financial Planner; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt; and Senior Professional HR Manager. Students who wish to be considered for graduate-level credit should apply to the MBA Program Chair.
