Pete Stevens – Assistant Coach


Pete Stevens has served as head coach of the Post University men’s golf team for nine years after a 15 month deployment to Iraq with the U.S. Army in 2006-2007.  He built the NCAA Division II program into a perennial powerhouse in the CACC (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) and NCAA East Region. Coach Stevens took his team to the NCAA DII National Championship in 2012 and under his tenure his teams have won five consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships starting in 2006. His teams have also won the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2006, and two DII New England Championships in 2005 and 2008. His teams have had nine appearances in the NCAA DII East Regional post season tournament.

Stevens’ program is not only successful on the golf course but also in the classroom. The 2011-2012 team won the NCAA National Academic Championship sponsored by the Farmer Insurance Group through the Coach Coaches Association of America to which Stevens is a member.  The team topped all NCAA DII teams in the nation with a 3.5 GPA. Stevens also has had two Cleveland Golf Academic All Americans; Jamie Blake in 2010 and David McGregor in 2011.

Stevens has produced a host of All CACC conference players and NCAA East All Region players since starting the program. He received his 150th win in just his third year as Head Golf Coach and continues to recruit talent which will continue the legacy of the program and national prominence.

The success of Stevens’ tenure has not gone unnoticed by his peers. He was voted CACC (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) Coach of the Year for 2005 and 2010. In 2009 Stevens was voted NCAA Regional Coach of The Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  Stevens has served 2 terms on the NCAA East Regional Advisory Committee and is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America; a professional association of collegiate golf coaches. Mr. Stevens is also a certified club maker and fitting specialist.

Stevens was the Head Golf Professional at Indian Springs CC in Middlefield Conn..He resides in Waterbury Connecticut with his wife Carol and his Irish Setter Murphy.
