Mike Shehorn was named the head coach of the softball program in August, 2013, and begins his second season at the helm of the Wildcats.

Shehorn led the Wildcats to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship in program history in his first season, earning the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Wildcats finished the season 29-26 overall, 16-10 in the CACC, earning the fifth seed for the CACC Tournament. The Wildcats went 1-2 in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, defeating New Haven before being eliminated.

Previously, Shehorn spent the 2013 season on staff as a volunteer assistant, helping the team to a program best 34-20 record, as well as a program record 19 wins in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The team earned the third seed for the CACC Tournament, going 2-2 with wins over Holy Family and USciences.

Prior to working as an assistant last season, Shehorn was the head softball coach at Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, Del., starting with the 2005 season. During his eight seasons at Caesar Rodney, Shehorn led his teams to a 93-70 overall record and two appearances in the Delaware State Semifinals. He was also named the state Coach of the Year in 2006.

Shehorn resides in Magnolia, Delaware with his wife Nicole and daughter, Skye.
