Derek Buckley – Assistant Coach


Biography

Derek Buckley joined the Wilmington University women’s soccer staff for his first season in 2012, and returns for his second season in 2013, after completing a very successful soccer career at the College of William and Mary.

A local product from Wilmington where he graduated from The Tatnall School in 2007, Buckley played four years as a defender for the Tribe. He earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors, First Team All-CAA, and was named the 2010 Most Valuable Player as well as a Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week.

Buckley started his coaching career with the Hockessin Soccer Club as a volunteer assistant coach during the summer of 2009. He has spent three summers with Hockessin, assisting in organizing, training and game preparation with the travel soccer team competing in league, tournament and regional play.

While at The Tatnall School, Buckley was a five year letterwinner, a four time First Team All-Conference player, a three time First Team All-State performer, a two-time team MVP and two-time captain, graduating in 2007.
