‘CATS MAKE SHORT WORK OF BOWIE STATE, WIN IN THREE
BOWIE, MD -- Wilmington University hit .347 on their way to a three-set victory over the host Bulldogs of Bowie State University in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday evening. The Wildcats won in straight sets, by scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-14.
The ‘Cats (12-7) were led by sophomore middle hitter Katie Shorter, who posted eight kills and four blocks, while hitting .583 on the match. Sophomore Ann Marie Scarfo added six kills and five digs, while Brittany Biddle, Brooke Foskey, and Paige Norvell each chipped in with four kills. The setter duo of Shannon Rumple (16) and Kasey Couch (13) combined for 29 assists, while Rumple posted a match-high 11 digs. Senior libero Kim Shropshire added 10 digs for Wilmington.
Bowie State (7-18) was led by Jenahye’ Johnson’s six kills. Cara Nance added five kills, while setter Paige McIntosh chipped in 11 digs. Jasmine Nixon posted a team-high seven digs.
The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday afternoon, when they play host to the Chargers of Dominican College in a CACC contest beginning at noon.
