VOLLEYBALL MAKES IN FOUR IN A ROW WITH 3-0 SWEEP OF CONCORDIA
BRONXVILLE, NY -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University won their fourth consecutive match, as they swept the host Clippers of Concordia College, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.
Wilmington took the extended first set by a score of 30-28, and won the second by a 25-13 margin. The ‘Cats completed the sweep with a 25-13 victory in the third and final set.
Sophomore middle hitter Brittany Biddle led the way, as she registered eight kills and one block. Classmate Brooke Foskey tallied seven kills, and hit an astounding .545 on the match. Junior Nicole Wiechecki added six kills and three aces, while senior setter Shannon Rumple chipped in with four kills, 14 assists, and four aces.
Concordia received seven kills each from Irina Impellittiere and Courtney Hanson. Setter Hillary Hoffman added 21 assists, while Amanda Margedant chipped in with a match-high 10 digs.
With the win, Wilmington improved to 3-0 in the CACC and 6-3 overall, while Concordia dropped to 0-3 in the conference and 0-8 on the season. The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday evening, when they travel to take on the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest beginning at 7:00 PM.
