MEN PLACE SECOND, WOMEN FOURTH AT JACK SAINT CLAIR MEMORIAL
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University participated in the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Invite at the Belmont Plateau on Saturday afternoon.
The women’s side finished fourth among five schools, while the men’s squad had a strong showing and placed second out of 9 programs.
Sophomore Whitney Hora led the women, placing 14th in a time of 24:51. Freshman Althea Davidson was right behind her in 15th place, running the course in 25:00. Senior Danielle Riley was 23rd in a time of 25:50, while sophomore Jeanette Halliburton placed 30th in 26:40. Senior Brittany Anthony rounded out the finisher for the ‘Cats, placing 36th in a time of 27:32.
The Lady Wildcats totaled 94 team points on the afternoon, finishing behind champion Bloosmburg University (22), Philadelphia University (50), and the Georgetown University Running Club (93).
Junior Bill Steele led the men’s squad, as he finished the five mile course in 27:01, placing 6th. Junior Danny Segars was 20th in a time of 29:13, while freshman Richie Mitten was right behind him in 21st place, finishing in 29:25. Senior Paul Riggio was 32nd in a time of 30:09, while classmate Austin Knight rounded out Wilmington’s finishers in 35th place, finishing in a time of 30:14.
The Wildcats totaled 102 team points for the meet, finishing behind champion Villanova University (17). Princeton University Running Club (109), while Wilmington bested CACC rival Philadelphia University (110), who was fourth.
The ‘Cats return to action next Saturday afternoon, when they take place in the University of Delaware Invite #2. The men’s race begins at 10:30 AM, with the women to follow at 11:15 AM.
