WILMINGTON WOMEN BATTLE TO SCORELESS DRAW WITH CALDWELL
NEW CASTLE, DE -- Despite a combined 50 shots, neither Wilmington University or Caldwell College could find a way to score as the Wildcats and Cougars battled to a scoreless draw in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
Both teams had ample opportunities to find the back of the net, but key saves and missed chances told the story this afternoon. Wilmington’s Amanda Walters recorded 14 saves in goal, while Caldwell’s Kristina Cabales turned away 18 shots for the visitors. The Wildcats out-shot the Cougars by a 33-18 margin, and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Prior to today’s contest, the ‘Cats honored seniors Brooke Eveler, Alli Williams, and Kirsten Stallone.
Following the game, Wilmington now stands at 3-6-1 in the CACC and 5-10-1 overall, while Caldwell is 5-2-2 in the conference and 6-6-2 on the season. The Lady Wildcats return to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, as they host the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in their final home contest of the season. Game time is slated for 3:30 PM.
