Wilmington University dropped their fifth straight game, this time a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Rams of Philadelphia University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Thursday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

The Rams scored their first goal during the 25th minute when Jessica Stec finished a cross from Carla Chmielewski.  Philadelphia would hold the 1-0 lead through halftime.  The hosts added an insurance goal in the game’s final minutes as Trisha Sileo knocked in a rebound off a Kristen Ferguson corner kick.

The score could have been much worse for the Wildcats, if not for the stellar play of junior goalkeeper Amanda Walters, who recorded 13 saves in the loss.  Kelli Kowalewski notched seven saves for Philadelphia.  The Rams held a convincing 22-8 advantage in shots, but the ‘Cats had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 1-4 in the CACC and 2-6 overall, while Philadelphia remained unbeaten in the conference at 6-0 and improved to 7-1-1 on the season.  The Wildcats return to the pitch on Thursday afternoon, when they host C.W. Post University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 PM.
