Senior Dan Ott repeated as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Player of the Year, leading all players with a ranking of 130 out of all NCAA Division II golfers, being recognized at the CACC Golf Banquet which was held at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on Monday night prior to the start of the CACC Championship Tournament.

Head coach Harry Jennings was also honored at the banquet, as the eighth year coach was honored as the CACC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.

Prior to the CACC Tournament in which Ott placed tied for fifth overall, the senior posted an average round score of 73.90. He continues to lead the CACC and the region with a 74.18 scoring average after a 75-59-154 at the CACC Championship. Currently, Ott is 153 in all NCAA Division II.

The Woodstown, N.J. native finished a year’s best second place at the Flagler College Jennison Memorial Tournament on September 27. Ott finished three under par, two shots off the lead at the St. Augustine, Fla. course. He finished the three-round tournament with a 69-72-72 for a total of 213. He also placed seventh in the Nova Southeastern University Shark Invitational and eighth in the Northeast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in the fall.

Jennings helped lead the team to three tournament wins this year, including its second straight CACC Tournament Championship. Jennings’ team also captured its second consecutive Northeast Intercollegiate Golf Championship in September and the Jay Jennison Memorial Classic hosted by Flagler College. The Wildcats also placed second in the North Alabama Spring Classic earlier this spring.

PJ Tighe, the CACC Tournament Individual Champion, fell to Ott in the Golfer of the Year race but has inched closer to his teammate following his performance this week. The junior is now 156 in NCAA Division II, shooting a 74.23 average. In addition to Ott, Tighe, freshman Scott Davidson and sophomore Andrew Baldo were all named to the 2012 All-CACC Golf Team, which is chosen based on the rankings.

The Wildcats earned the CACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Super Regional starting on May 7. The team will travel to Hershey, Pa. and compete at the Hershey Golf Course in a combined regional tournament against the best of the East and Atlantic Regions. The Wildcats placed a program best third last season, earning a spot in the NCAA Division II National Tournament a year ago.
