Wilmington Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

The Wilmington University women's volleyball team was honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award along with 66 other Division II institutions for its academic excellence during the 2011-12 academic year, announced last week.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, had a record-breaking 533 teams from men's and women's Division I, II and III programs, as well as high school girl's and boy's squads earned the award for maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
From the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Caldwell College and Dominican College both join Wilmington on the prestigious list, as all three institutions helped Division II record its highest-ever total number of award recipients.
