The Wilmington University men’s basketball fell to Millersville, 55-52, to drop to 0-4 on the season after a see-saw affair on Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium.

Shai Henry tied the ballgame at 50-50 with a layup with 3:22 remaining, but Millersville came back to score five of the final seven points to win the game, scoring the final two foul shots of the contest with a minute remaining as Herb Dennis missed a three-pointer with six seconds left in regulation.

Henry led the Wildcats (0-4 overall) by going 5-for-6 from the floor, but a layup and an ensuing foul shot by Millersville’s Elijah Obade with 2:46 left on the scoreboard proved to be the game-winner as the Marauders never looked back after a tied ballgame.

Henry missed an and-one opportunity after finishing a lay-in to tie the ball game with 3:22 remaining, and the Marauders’ Obade converted an and-one opportunity on the following possession, giving the home team the lead for good.

Brandon Fox led the Wildcats with 16 points off the bench, shooting 6-for-12 from the floor and going 3-for-4 from the foul line in 21 minutes. Henry poured in 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and added a team high eight rebounds in his first start of the season.

The Wildcats took a one point lead into the halftime break, as Fox put in a lay-up with 1:43 remaining in the half to go up 25-24. A Millersville layup by Larry Grant gave the Marauder’s a one point lead with 1:08 but sophomore Rashaun Rasheed came back and hit a pair of free-throws to make it 27-26 going into the locker room.

The lead went back and forth in the second half, as the teams tied the score a total of 15 times on the day, with Millersville taking the final lead with 2:46 remaining in the regulation.

Henry scored 13 points, finishing as the only other Wildcat in double digits in addition to Fox, leading the team with eight rebounds, three on the offensive glass. Dusan Kojic grabbed six boards in the loss.

Rasheed and senior captain James Pee added eight points each in the contest, but it wasn’t enough as Millersville advanced to 1-2 on the season.

The Wildcats return to the WU Athletics Complex on Tuesday against West Chester before heading back out on the road to take on on Howard in an exhibition game next Sunday. They head into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule against University of the Sciences on November 28 in Philadelphia.
