Wilmington Standouts Brandon Fox and Tashea Plummer Named Wildcats’ January Athletes of the Month

Sophomore Tashea Plummer was named the Wilmington Female Student of the Month for her play throughout January.



Senior Brandon Fox was named the Wilmington male Student of the Month for his play throughout January.

Wilmington standout student-athletes Brandon Fox and Tashea Plummer have been named Wildcat Athletes of the Month for January after leading their respective teams on the hardwood, and rewriting the record books.

Fox, a senior forward on the men’s basketball team, averaged 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds a game for the month of January, leading the team to a 2-5 record while starting in all seven contests. For this month he led the team in points, blocks, and rebounds.

The Middle Level Education major scored a career high 31 points on January 26 against Concordia. He went 11-for-18 from the floor and added an 8-for-9 performance from the foul line. For the month, Fox added 14 assists, eight blocks, nine steals, and 55 rebounds, scoring 127 points overall.

Plummer, a sophomore forward for the women’s basketball team, averaged 9.7 points and 10.3 rebounds a game for the month of January. She started in all six games throughout the month for the Wildcats, while leading the team in rebounds.

The Psychology major had a career high 17 rebounds on January 12 against University of the Sciences. The 17 rebounds were the seventh most rebounds in a game in women’s basketball program history. For the month, Plummer added eight assists, five steals, and 62 rebounds, scoring 58 points overall.

During the month of February, the basketball programs will help raise breast cancer awareness with their annual Think Pink contest on February 16 against Caldwell. Please help Wilmington University and the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition fight the cause by bringing a monetary donation to the doubleheader.

The Wildcats will also celebrate their seniors with their final home game of the 2012-13 season on February 23 with a doubleheader against Philadelphia. The women’s senior day activities will begin prior to the tip at 1 p.m. with the men to follow prior to the tip at 3 p.m.
