Wednesday’s Baseball Contest Against West Chester Postponed Until April 23; Weekend Scheduled Changed As Well
Wednesday, February 27, 2013 - New Castle, DE
The Wilmington University baseball team can’t seem to get its home schedule underway as the rain once again postponed its home opener against West Chester on Wednesday.
The game will now be made up as part of a doubleheader the next time the Golden Rams come to New Castle on April 23. The game will now be a part of two seven-inning games at Wilson Field, with the first pitch of game one scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Wildcats and its maintenance staff are still trying to get the field ready and have the weather cooperate for this weekend, as the team is schedule to welcome Franklin Pierce and Indiana (Pa.) come in for a three-team play weekend starting on Friday.
This weekend’s Wilmington University baseball schedule has been modified to accommodate the inclement weather, as the Wildcats will only play Franklin Pierce in a four-game set, now at a neutral site.
The Wildcats will head back to Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J. on Friday to play Franklin Pierce in a pair of nine inning games on the all-purpose turf. The doubleheader will start at 12:00 p.m. with Wilmington being the home team in both games.
The series will then move to Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y. on Saturday for another doubleheader. The teams will play a nine inning contest at 1 p.m. and then finishing with a seven-inning ball-game to round out the series.
The two games against Indiana (Pa.) have been cancelled and will not be made up.
