Wilmington Holds 11 Stroke Lead, Shoots 299 in First Round at CACC Golf Championship Tournament

After the first day at the CACC Championship Tournament, the two-time defending champion Wilmington University golf team leads by 11 strokes, shooting a 299 in the first round at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Wilmington leads Nyack College by 11 strokes after the Warriors put up 310 in the first round. Concordia shot a 313 while Goldey-Beacom shot 318. Post rounds out the top five with a 326. The CACC Tournament is a two-day, two-round tournament set to finish on Wednesday.
Senior PJ Tighe and junior Jerry Temple lead the Wildcats after the first day, tied for second place with a 74. Junior Andrew Baldo is one stroke behind his teammates, sinning in a tie for fourth with a 75. Rounding out the Wilmington scoring was freshman Andreas Lunding who recorded a 76 and sits in a tie for sixth. Lunding was named the CACC Rookie of the Year last night at the annual CACC Banquet.
All four Wildcats trail overall leader, Concordia’s Eutimio Fernandez Meade who is a stroke above everyone, shooting a 73 in the first round.
Senior John Perrine was the fifth Wildcat on the card, coming in a tie for 28th after the first round, shooting an 84.
The second and final round of the CACC Championship Tournament will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
