For the third year in a row the Wilmington University golf team walked away from the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament champions, winning their third by 18 strokes on Wednesday.

With the victory, the Wildcats move on to the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional Tournament as the CACC’s automatic bid, looking to defend their Super Regional team title as well.

The team shot a 312 for the second round, the best among the field on Wednesday. Added to their tournament low round of 299 from Tuesday, the Wildcats finished with a 611 (+35) for the championship. Wilmington defeated Concordia by 18 strokes and Nyack by 21 strokes who finished in the top three.

Also repeating as CACC Tournament Champion was senior PJ Tighe who earned medalist honors for the second year in a row. He backed his first round score of 74 with a 76 on Tuesday to jump the day one leader Eutimio Fernandez Meade (Concordia) and win the tournament. Tighe beat out teammate Jerry Temple who shot a 74-77 for a 151 (+7) to place second overall. Fernandez Meade fell to third with a 79 second round, finishing with a 152 (+8) to place third.
