Sam Clark’s Two Under Round Leads Wilmington Golfers to Third Place Finish at Otter Invitational

The Wilmington University golf team produced its best tournament of the 2013 fall season, finishing the Otter Invitational with a 292 (+4) on Tuesday in the third round, placing third overall at the Black Horse Course hosted by CSU Monterey Bay.
Freshman Sam Clark led the way for the Wildcats, as they came away with their best round of the fall on Tuesday. Clark shot a 70 (-2), sinking four birdies with only two bogeys on the afternoon, placing 20th overall.
Senior Jerry Temple was solid in all three rounds this week, responding to his one under par, two round score on Monday with another 72 (E) round on Tuesday. He birdied holes 4, 5, and 16, while finishing with three bogeys and 12 pars for the round. For his 215 (-1) tournament, he placed fourth overall.
Sophomore Andreas Lunding birdied holes 7, 13, 16, and 18 after starting on the sixth tee, but collected four straight bogeys to close out his round, dropping him to a 75 (+3) for the round, and a 228 (+12) overall for the tournament. He tied his 75 of the first round for his best of the tournament, placing 34th overall.
Senior Tomasz Pulsakowski shot his best round of the tournament with a 75 (+3) on Tuesday, finishing with birdies on three of the four Par 5s, sinking it in four shots on holes 1, 8, and 18. His 237 for the tournament landed him in 59th place overall.
Senior Andrew Baldo rounded out the Wildcats competitors on Tuesday, as he shot an 83 (+11) in the final round to finish at 230 (+14) for the tournament. Baldo shot 74-73 to be three over par after the first day. He finished in 42nd place overall.
Playing as an individual, freshman Freddy Braun was in the mix as well, tying his first round score of 74 (+2) on Tuesday to finishing off his tournament with a 224 (+8). Although playing as an individual and his score not going to the Wilmington total, the freshman placed 20th overall, tied with Clark.
For the third round, Temple led the field with two other participants on the Par 4 holes, coming in at one under par. Clark was tied for fourth with a large group, shooting even par on the Par 4 holes for the day.
For the tournament, the Wildcats were second as a team on the Par 5 holes, shooting 10 under combined in the three rounds. Only host CSU Monterey Bay shot better on the Par 5s, shooing 16 under par for the tournament. The Wildcats were also second in pars for the tournament with 154.
The Wildcats will remain out west for their final tournament of the 2013 fall season, as they head to Waikoloa, Hawaii to take part in the Dennis Rose Invitational starting on October 27. The tournament will be played at Waikoloa Kings Golf Course and hosted by the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
