Leading the Wilmington University volleyball team to a 2-1 week, freshman Allison Briley was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.

The Wildcats (18-9, 13-2 CACC) lost to Philadelphia on Wednesday but battled back to defeat USciences on Friday and Post on Saturday to stay ahead of the class in the CACC South Division.

Briley (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) led the offense with 42 kill in 11 sets for the Wildcats. She set a new career best with 17 kills in the four set victory over USciences on Friday, adding a double-double with a career high 18 digs as well. She only committed two errors on 39 swings against the Devils, hitting a week’s high .385.

In the 3-1 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday, Briley collected 15 kills on 51 attempts, committing only three errors in the loss. She came back and was the only Wildcat to collect double digit kills against Post on Saturday, knocking down 10 on 21 swings with only two errors. Briley hit .315 for the week in 11 sets.

Sophomore Kaitlin DiGiacinto was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats with 4.18 points per set. She also set a new career best with 18 kills against Philadelphia.

Philadelphia’s Brittany Olson was named the CACC Player of the Week in leading the Rams to a 2-1 week, averaging 4.25 kills per set. Teammate Michele Chai was named the Defensive Player of the Week in leading the Rams with 83 digs.

The Wildcats have another busy schedule this week, hosting Chestnut Hill and Goldey-Beacom during the week before heading to Concordia on Saturday.

Thursday night’s game against Goldey-Beacom on Halloween will be a double feature, as the team will honor its three seniors prior to the match as well as offer a costume party for its fans. The first 50 fans dressed in a Halloween costume will receive a gift at the door and all fans dressed in a costume will be entered into a drawing for a Visa Gift Card. Thursday’s match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
