Wilmington Cheerleaders Look for a UCA Three-Peat at Nationals on January 17-19

The Wilmington University cheerleading team is preparing to earn its third consecutive UCA Small Coed Division II Cheerleading National Championship at the 2014 UCA National Championships at the Walt Disney World Resort from January 17-19.
The bar has been set for the Wildcats, as they have won each of the past two National Championships as a team in their division and now have the target planted firmly on their backs. The team will also look to improve upon its partner stunt routines in front of the national audience, as the team will send one coed partner stunt group and one all-girl partner stunt group to the mats.
The newest addition for the Wildcats at the 2014 National Championships will be the mascot competition as Wiley D. Wildcat is set to perform him routine in the open mascot division for the first time.
Friday will feature Wiley D. Wildcat in the open mascot division against the likes of in-state rival YoUDee from the University of Delaware, Roomie the Lion from Southeastern Louisiana University, Awesome Eagle from Tennessee Tech University, and WU Shock from Wichita State University.
All-Girls partner stunt group of Natalie Spiker, Gabby Mattera, Amanda Endicott, and Laureen Carney will be the first all-girl group to perform on Friday night, performing at 7:33 p.m.
The coed partner stunt duo of David Bellew and Ariel Ellixson will be the 11th partner group out on the floor on Friday night, performing at 8:30 p.m.
The Small Coed Division II Semi-Finals take place on Saturday morning, as the Wildcats will take the stage at 10:24 a.m. for their first performance in front of the judges. The Small Coed Division I & II Finals are scheduled to begin late Saturday afternoon.

New this year will be an exclusive LIVE show featuring the Partner Stunt and Mascot Championships that will be broadcasted on ESPN3 on Friday, January 17. The team will also be holding a send-off party at the WU Athletics Complex on Wednesday, January 15 to showcase its Nationals routine one last time before leaving for Orlando. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. with the performance of the team and stunt groups starting at 6:30 p.m.
