Wilmington University is pleased to announce that baseball standout Cody Holliday (Havre de Graces HS/Havre de Grace, MD) has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All- American Honorable Mention Team for his performance this past season.
Holliday, a senior outfielder, was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference and First Team NCAA, American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), ECAC, and NCBWA All-East Region selection.
This season he led the Wildcats in hitting (.360), hits (76), doubles (18), home runs (7), RBI (52), total bases (121), slugging percentage (.573), on-base percentage (.458), and stolen bases (17). Holliday led the conference in hits, RBI, doubles, and total bases, while ranking second in runs, and third in home runs.
He becomes just the third Wildcat, and the second from the baseball program, to earn All-American honors.
His efforts this season helped lead Wilmington (29-29/15-12 CACC) to the CACC championship, as his Wildcats upset the region’s top seed, Dominican College, 5-4 in the title game. With the win, Wilmington earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA East Regional Tournament, where they finished in third place.
