In a vote of the nine Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s lacrosse head coaches, Wilmington University was picked to finish third in the South Division according to the Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll announced today by Commissioner Dan Mara.

The Wildcats collected 19 points in the South Division, as Philadelphia picked up six of the nine first place votes to earn 32 total points to lead the South. Holy Family earned the remaining three first place votes and 28 total points for second place. Chestnut Hill was voted fourth in the South Division with 11 points.

The North Division was nearly split by Georgian Court and Dominican, as the Lions earned five first place votes and 41 total points for the top spot. The Chargers picked up the other four first place votes to earn 40 total points for second place. Post earned 25 points for third followed by Nyack (18 points) and first year program Caldwell (11 points) to round out the North Division.

The coaches have predicted that the final four from the 2013 CACC women's lacrosse tournament will advance to this year's edition of the semifinals.  One year ago, both semifinals were decided by one goal, highlighted by an epic battle between Georgian Court and Holy Family that lasted three overtimes with the Tigers emerging victorious, 15-14.  The Tigers pulled off the repeat by outscoring Philadelphia 12-10 in the championship.

The Wildcats start their season with three of their first four games at home, beginning on March 1 when Dowling visits the WU Athletics Complex. The CACC portion of the Wildcats’ schedule begins on March 4 with a visit to North Division’s Nyack.

The top two teams from each division in the regular season standings will advance to the CACC Women's Lacrosse Final Four hosted by Chestnut Hill on April 26-27.
