Senior Andrew Baldo Leads Bear Trap Dunes Invitational After Day One Low 70

Senior Andrew Baldo shot a tournament low 70 to lead the Wilmington University golf team to an eight stroke lead in the first round at the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational hosted by Dowling on Saturday afternoon.
After one round of play, the Wilmington “A” team posted a low round score of 300, closely followed by Wilmington “B” with a 305 score to lead the field of seven other teams in the region.
Baldo holds a four stroke lead over teammate Matt DiEleutrio, playing on the “B”, atop the leaderboard. The Wilmington “A” team’s four low scores came from Baldo’s 70, Andreas Lunding’s 76, and Jerry Temple and Tomasz Pulsakowski’s 77. Sam Clark posted a 78 to round out the “A” team’s first round.
The Wilmington “B” team followed closely behind, led by DiEleuterio’s 74 to ut him in second overall. Freddy Braun posted a 75 to sit in a tie for third place overall while Alexander Lautenschlaeger and Jun Ahn rounded out the team score with a pair of 78’s. Alex Healy was the final Wildcat in play, scoring an 84 in the first round.
Bentley posted a 308 to finish third overall after the first round while Nyack and American International rounded out the top five with scored of 314 and 318, respectively.
AIC’s Miguel Siercke is third overall with a 75, tied with Bentley’s Harry Kirkpatrick and Wilmington’s Braun.
The Wilmington “A” team tees off next to Bentley, Nyack, and American International on Sunday starting at 10:08 a.m., looking to take its first tournament of the spring season. The Wilmington “B” team tees off starting at 9:28 a.m.
