Andreas Lunding earned CACC Golfer of the Week while women’s lacrosse’s Rebekah McCurry earned CACC Defensive Player of the Week as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference released its Weekly Reports on Monday.

Lunding (Horsholm, Denmark/Rungsted Gymnasium) paced the Wildcats to a tournament victory at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational this past weekend, finishing in second overall. The sophomore posted a six-under 138 at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links, falling just short of medalist honors by a single stroke. Lunding went 71, one-under par on Saturday before finishing with a 67, five-under par score on Sunday.

Lunding also helped the Wildcats to an eighth place finish at the Buccaneer Invitational to start the week, finishing in 35th overall. He finished the tournament in Miami Beach, Fla., with a seven-over par 220 in the two-day, three-round tournament.

McCurry (St. Leonard, Md./Calvert) was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats to a 2-1 week in three conference games. The junior posted 10 caused turnovers on the week, while adding 12 ground balls. McCurry forced two turnovers and picked up two ground balls in a key CACC South Division win over Holy Family to start the week. She then added four caused turnovers and four more ground balls against Dominican. McCurry finished the week with four more caused turnovers and six ground balls against Post.

The team’s leading point scorer, McCurry also scored six goals (five against Holy Family), dished out a team high six assists, and added nine draw controls on the week.

It is the third such award for Lunding in his career, but first in the 2014 season. He was named the CACC Golfer of the Week on two separate occasions as a freshman last year. It is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for McCurry after she was named the CACC Player of the Week on March 10.

Softball’s Ashley Bennett and baseball’s Rob Gore were mentioned on their sports’ respective Weekly Honor Roll for this past week, after helping the Wildcats to victory.

Bennett finished with a team high .667 slugging percentage in a 5-1 week for the softball team, batting 8-for-18 with a double and a home run. She contributed a team high eight RBI on the week.

Gore struck out a career best nine batters in seven innings of work against Chestnut Hill, earning the victory. The junior only allowed one walk and two hits in the win, moving to 3-0 on the year with 1.95 season earned run average.
