With only allowing one run in 15 innings of work last week, Wilmington University senior Stephanie Sarris has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played through April 20, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The Wildcats (22-18, 14-6 CACC) went 4-0 last week, sweeping doubleheader from USciences and Chestnut Hill prior to Easter Weekend.

Sarris (Rohnert Park, Calif./Rancho Cotate) won both games she appeared in last week, only allowing a fifth inning run against USciences in 15 innings of work. The senior had to work extra-innings against the Devils, throwing eight innings to pick up the win in game two. She struck out four batters while allowing six hits.

In her second game of the week, Sarris went the distance again, tossing all seven innings of a 5-0 shutout victory over Chestnut Hill. She struck out eight Griffins while not allowing a walk, only giving up three hits in the win. At that, Sarris improved to 10-6 on the season.

For the week, Sarris struck out 12 batters in 15 innings. She carried a 0.47 earned run average for the week, lowering her season ERA to 1.90 after Tuesday’s win against Post.

Junior Chelsea Botsch was named to Softball’s Weekly Honor Roll, batting 8-for-13 for the week with a team high five runs scored. She also went 4-for-5 on the base paths, stealing third and advancing home on an error in the bottom of the seventh to force extras in game two against USciences.

Juniors Josh Swirchak and Jamie Treml were named to the CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll after leading the team to a 3-1 week. Swirchak batted 8-for-16 while knocking in a team high five runs and scoring a team high five more. He hit his first home run of the year in a 3-for-4 effort against Queens. Treml struck out 11 batters in his only appearance of the week, improving to 7-0 on the year with a win over USciences.

Graduate student Penelope Fantis was named to the CACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 week last week. She scored a team high nine goals, finishing second with 10 points. She also led the team with nine ground balls while collecting five draw controls. She scored a week’s high four goals on Senior Day against West Virginia Wesleyan while her seven ground balls against UDC tied a program single game mark.
