Nine Home Games Highlight the 2014 Wilmington Women’s Soccer Schedule

If the pattern repeats itself, the Wilmington University women’s soccer team is setting up for another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship this season as head coach Josh Ruggiero announced the 2014 schedule.
Having won the 2010 and 2012 CACC Regular Season Championship, as well as the 2012 CACC Tournament Championships, followed by sub .500 campaigns in each year after, the Wildcats have nine home games and 17 total prior to making another run at a conference championship.
Entering his seventh season at the helm of the Wildcats, Ruggiero has his squad starting on September 4 when they travel to West Chester for a nonconference game.
The Wildcat fan base’s first chance to catch the team at the WU Athletics Complex will be on Tuesday, September 9 when they battle Adelphi in the home opener.
The CACC portion of the schedule begins on the road at Felician on September 13, with the first home CACC contest against the reigning CACC Regular Season Champion and CACC Tournament Runners Up Holy Family on September 18.
The highly anticipated Homecoming game is set for Saturday, September 20 with a soccer doubleheader against Concordia, with activities starting prior to the women’s game scheduled at 12 p.m.
The Wildcats also host nonconference opponents Dowling and Bridgeport throughout the season while taking to the road to play LIU Post to round out the nonconference season.
Inside the CACC, the Wildcats welcome Philadelphia, Bloomfield, Nyack and Georgian Court throughout the year while heading to reigning CACC Tournament Champion Caldwell, Post, Goldey-Beacom, and Dominican.
The Wildcats’ final three games are all at the WU Athletics Complex, with Senior Day set for Saturday, September 25 against Nyack College.
The top eight teams at the end of the CACC Regular Season advances to the CACC Tournament. The quarterfinal round will be hosted by the top four team on Monday, November 3, with the four winners moving on to the Semifinals hosted by Post University in Waterbury, Conn. The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, November 6 with a Tournament Champion being crowned on Saturday, November 8.
