The Wilmington University men’s soccer team has moved up in the National Rankings, coming in at number 14 this week, according to the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Wildcats are also ranked second in the East Region. The regional rankings are voted upon by the coaches in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the East Coast Conference, and the Northeast-10 Conference.

Wilmington is coming off a 1-0 week last week, in which they knocked off the Rams of Philadelphia University, 4-3. Senior forward Sargbah Tarpeh (Overbrook HS/Philadelphia, PA) was named CACC Player of Week, after having a hand in all four goals against the Rams (two goals, two assists).

The NCAA also released its rankings today, and the ‘Cats are third in the East Region. The top six teams in the East Region qualify for the NCAA regional tournament.

The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Eagles of Lock Haven University in a non-conference contest beginning at 1:00 PM. Also on the slate is a much anticipated CACC matchup with the 18th ranked Chargers of Dominican College on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM.

The complete listing of the rankings can be found at www.nscaa.com/seniorRegion.php?it=969&dv=2&dt=20090901&gen=Men.
