Cheerleaders Place Fourth at UCA National Championships
Friday, January 21, 2011 - New Castle, DE
The Wilmington University Cheerleading team placed fourth at the recent Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National College Cheerleading National Championships. The event was held January 14-16, in Orlando Florida.
One of the most prestigious cheerleading events in the country, the Wildcats participated in the Small Coed Division II. After a successful semi-final performance that landed them in the finals, the Wildcats placed fourth among 12 teams competing at the event.
Wilmington received a partially paid bid to the National Championships, after they submitted an entry video in October that highlighted their skills along with a few performances, including clips from their routines at this year’s Hoop Fest. Following their submission, the squad ranked second among all Small Coed Division II schools.
The Wildcats will be showcasing their national competition routine during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Dominican College on Saturday, February 5th. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3:00 PM, and the cheerleaders look to take the court at approximately 3:30 PM. Please come out and show your support as the squad demonstrates their award-winning skills.
