Biography

2013 Season: Led the team with a program record 31 appearances out of the pen as the team’s closer – broke the program record for appearances on the mound in a career – ranked 26th in NCAA Division II in saves with eight – fifth on the team with a 2.38 ERA in 34 innings – struck out 26 batters while only allowing seven walks – named First Team All-CACC – threw a season high 2.2 innings at Dominican on March 15 – tossed at least two innings in four appearances as a junior, including against Southern New Hampshire in the NCAA East Region Tournament, earning the win to send the team to the championship game – struck out a season’s best three batters in two innings of work against St. Thomas Aquinas in his first appearance of the year – the team went 25-6 in games he appeared in.

2012 Season: Appeared in 28 games out of the pen as a sophomore, primarily as the setup man in the eighth inning – recorded lone save of the season against Caldwell on April 29 – picked up first win of the season against Molloy in Florida, while also earning wins at Chestnut Hill and against Millersville – struck out a season high two batters against Post and Kutztown, both in one inning of work – team went 19-9 in his 28 games.

2011 Season: Appeared in 19 games out of the pen as a freshman – recorded first career save and only of the season in two innings of work against Mansfield on March 22 – struck out a season high three batters in 1.2 innings of work against Dominican – also struck out two batters against Southern New Hampshire in first collegiate appearance.

High School: Two year letterwinner at Edison High School as a pitcher and first baseman – named to the All-Conference team both varsity seasons – also named All-Middlesex County member both seasons and earned Third Team All-State as a senior in 2010 – helped team to a 30-25 overall record in two seasons.

Personal: Nicholas Jacob Marics – son of Jeffrey Marics and Christine Vardaro – sports management major at Wilmington with aspirations of becoming a high school athletic director – has an older sister, Christy – the most played song on his iPod is “Around the World” by Red Hot Chili Peppers – his favorite movie is Fight Club – his favorite professional sports teams are the New York Mets and the Miami Dolphins.
