High School: Four year letterwinner as a catcher on the baseball team at Deerfield Beach High School – named the Team MVP as a senior and finished fourth in Broward County with a .541 batting average – named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team – also a four year member of the golf team – earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and was the team’s MVP as a sophomore, junior and senior – earned the Butler Scholarship for his work in academics and athletics

Personal: Mathew Lopes – son of Eric and Dawn Lopes – business management major at Wilmington and wants to pursue or a career in baseball, or enter the hotel business in Florida after graduating
