Biography

2014 Season: Appeared in 11 games on the mound as a junior, making 10 starts – ranked fourth in the CACC with a 2.11 ERA – pitched a season high 8.0 innings on April 14 at Felician, striking out a season high seven batters – struck out five batters in five scoreless innings in seasons first start on February 23 against Mercyhurst – struck out six batters in four separate starts, including against Post in the CACC Tournament and against Dowling in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament – picked up wins against Mercyhurst, Molly, and two wins against Post.

2013 Season: One of the strongest arms in the starting rotations as a sophomore, appearing in 16 games while making 15 starts – named First Team All-CACC and CACC All-Tournament Team as a starting pitcher – named Second Team All-East Region for ABCA/Rawlings, Daktronics, and NCBWA – finished 44th in NCAA with a 2.05 earned run average – collected a team high nine wins, going 9-1 – struck out a team high 66 batters in 88 innings – threw a complete game shutout at Philadelphia on March 27, allowing five hits while striking out eight batters – struck out a season’s best 10 batters at USciences on March 20 – pitched eight scoreless innings in the CACC Tournament against Chestnut Hill, striking out five – pitched eight scoreless innings against St. Thomas Aquinas in the NCAA East Region Tournament, striking out five batters while picking up the win.

2012 Season: Started four games on the mound as a freshman, making nine appearances – struck out 21 batters in 27 innings – pitched a season high five innings twice, first against St. Rose and again at West Chester – struck out a season high six batters in his first collegiate start against St. Rose – tossed 2.1 innings without allowing a run and striking out five against Southern New Hampshire in the NCAA East Region Tournament.

High School: Two-Year letterwinner at Upper Merion high school for head coach Jason Darnell – helped team go 15-8 and win the District Tournament as a sophomore in 2009 as a pitcher – named First Team All-Suburban One League American Conference, All-Area and All-East during time at Upper Merion.

Personal: Raymond “Ray” Joseph Gambone – son of Ray and Dina Gambone – father, Ray, played lacrosse at Towson University – has a younger sister, Dominique – majoring in criminal justice at Wilmington with career aspirations of getting drafted into the MLB or becoming a State Trooper – his favorite athlete is Novak Djokovic and Bud Cauley – other than baseball, he enjoys playing Frisbee – if he could date a celebrity he would date Jennifer Lawrence or Rhona Mitra – the perfectly prepared meal would be steak and mac and cheese.
