Biography
Prior to Wilmington University: Played a season at NAIA Dillard University in New Orleans for the 2009-10 season – transferred to Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, N.J. in 2010-11.
High School: Four-year letterwinner in basketball at Science Park High School – helped lead the team to a New Jersey State Championship as a freshman in 2004-05 and again as a senior in 2007-08 – compiled a 106-17 overall record during four year high school career
Personal: Robert E. Byrd – son of Alfredo Ruiz and Carla Byrd – has three siblings, James Hammock, Chantel Ruiz and Kenneth Ortiz – brother, Kenneth Ortiz, is a junior on the Wagner College basketball team – majoring in criminal justice at Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming an FBI Agent – from Newark, N.J.
