Biography

Junior Season (2012): Became program’s first All-East Region performer, earning Daktronics and AVCA First Team All-East Region – named CACC Player of the Year and First Team All-CACC – was CACC Player of the Week on September 17 and October 24 – set program records for total blocks in a season (175), blocks per set (1.50) and blocks in a match (13 against Georgian Court on November 11) – broke the program’s all-time block record and has 361 after three seasons – finished the season with averaging 1.14 blocks per set for her career, topping the all-time list – third on the team with 234 kills (2.00 per set) and 3.01 points per set – finished third in the NCAA Division II ranks with a 1.50 blocks per set average – tallied a season high 15 kills in the five set victory over Caldwell on October 20, while recording only one error on 27 swings for a .519 hitting percentage – recorded five games with double-digit kills, including 12 in the CACC Semifinals against Georgian Court – recorded four solo blocks and nine block assists for a record 13 total blocks against Georgian Court in the CACC Semifinals on November 9 – also recorded 10 total blocks (seven solo) against Pace on September 7 – Wilmington Academic All-Star.

Sophomore Season (2011): Appeared in all 30 matches as a sophomore, playing in 98 sets – fourth on the team with 1.82 kills per set – led the CACC with a .307 attack percentage, but didn’t have eben attempts (387) to count – led the CACC with 37 block solos, 61 block assists, 98 total blocks, and 1.00 blocks per set – had a season high 13 kills at USciences on October 6 – recorded double-digit kills in five matches – collected a season high eight blocks (four solo, four block assists) against Holy Family in the CACC Semifinals.

Freshman Season (2010): Second in the CACC with 88 total blocks and a 0.86 blocks per set average – collected 1.30 kills per set, playing in all 34 matches and playing in 102 sets – finished with 42 solo blocks and 46 block assists – had a season high 10 kills twice on the year, first against Goldey-Beacom on September 23 and again at Felician on October 9 – added a season high seven blocks (five solo, two assists) against Goldey-Beacom on September 23 – knocked down nine kills without an error on 12 attempts for a season high .750 hitting percentage against Lincoln (Pa.) on October 30.

High School: Four year letter winner in volleyball at both North East High School and Broadneck High School (2009) – helped lead Broadneck to a Maryland State Championship in 2009 – Second Team All-County in 2009 – named captain of 2008 team at Northeast High School – top blocker in conference – four year honor student.

Personal: Kaitlin Linnea Shorter – daughter of David and Kim Shorter – has a younger brother, Tyler – majoring in criminal justice at Wilmington University with aspirations of becoming a DEA agent – from Pasadena, Md. – her favorite movie is Bridesmaids – her favorite cartoon character is Winnie the Pooh – her perfect meal would be sushi and cupcakes – If she could be the head coach of any team she would choose the USA men’s volleyball team – If she could date one celebrity she would pick Joe Manganiello.
