Admission

Please refer to The Graduate Admission Process section for general graduate admission information. Master of Science in Community Counseling applicants may apply for regular admission to begin studies in the fall term by submitting a fully completed application that includes all requested supporting documentation. Applicants may apply for early admission to begin studies in the spring term pending availability of space. Early admission applicants who are not selected for spring term admission will be notified and offered the opportunity to be considered for regular admission in the fall term. For consideration and admission to the Master of Science in Community Counseling program:

  1. Download the Application Materials

    The packet includes:
    • A Letter from the Program Coordinator
    • Retention Policy
    • Application Instructions
    • Information Seminar Schedule
    • MSCC Statement of Goals
    • An Application for Graduate Admission
    • Two Recommendation Forms
  2. Submit all completed documents, including a copy of your current resume with a $30.00 non-refundable application fee to Wilmington University, Office of Graduate Admissions.
  3. Submit all official transcripts from accredited colleges, universities, or other degree-granting institutions, verifying completion of a bachelor’s degree and other course work.
    • Have official transcript(s) sent directly to the Wilmington University Graduate Admissions Office from past colleges and/or universities. Transcripts must be official, indicating the college or university seal, in a sealed envelope.
  4. A MSCC Admissions Committee completes an in-depth evaluation of all admission materials after they have been submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  5. Applicants who have met the MSCC program standards on all of the admission application packet materials will then be invited to continue the second stage of the admission process by attending on-campus interviews (group and individual) with the MSCC Admissions Committee.
  6. Decisions regarding final acceptance are made by the MSCC Admissions Committee following these interviews.
  7. Successful applicants typically have:
    • An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or better
    • Documented work and/or volunteer experience in a “helping endeavor”
    • Excellent references
    • Good interpersonal awareness and communication skills
    • Compelling interest in the profession of Counseling
  8. The MSCC program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and it adheres to the competitive enrollment standards required by CACREP. Before entering the MSCC program, an applicant must complete all steps of the admission process, receive formal notification of acceptance into the program, submit a signed copy of the MSCC program admission policies and procedures agreement, and attend a required orientation meeting.
