Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a secure browser for taking tests in Blackboard. It prevents the user from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a Blackboard test requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser. Respondus LockDown Browser should only be used for taking Blackboard tests or quizzes that require its use. It should not be used in other areas of Blackboard.

How can I use it?

  1. Download and install the Respondus LockDown Browser software.
  2. Follow the instructions provided to complete the installation.
  3. After you complete the installation, verify you have no other software open and have closed all browser windows. Double-click the LockDown Browser icon on your desktop or select the application from 'All Programs.'
  4. You should be prompted to log in to Blackboard, so you may navigate to your course to begin your exam.
