Dealing With Difficult Performance Issues

Today's fast paced workplace is filled with challenges- stress, deadlines, changes, miscommunication -all of which take time away from productivity. Managers often find themselves spending hours resolving conflicts, struggling to give appropriate feedback and conducting difficult performance appraisals. This program will teach techniques for communicating expectations, encouraging cooperation and improving employee performance.

  • Communication strategies for turning conflict between co workers into cooperation:
    • negotiating win/win for most disagreements
    • empowering employees to take initiative in resolving conflicts
  • A four step communication model for conducting effective performance appraisals:
    • focusing on work related issues, not personality
    • communicating expectations
    • assessing performance results
    • encouraging top performers to do even better

Seminar Leader: 

Peggy Smith has served as an educator, teacher and facilitator helping others to communicate more successfully throughout her career in both private and public sectors. Prior to working 16 years in sales with the DuPont and Agfa corporations, she was the Training Specialist for the Engineering Division of DuPont, served as Training Director for Peace Corps Nepal and taught in NYC public schools. She has advanced degrees in Education and Counseling, and completed numerous courses in Sales, and Communication Leadership.
