Astronomy Professor Reveals Not-So-Secret Life of Stars

January 2, 2008—New Castle, DE. When gazing up at the night sky, have you ever been curious why some stars are brighter than others? Or why some stars have a different coloration than others? Thomas Brennan, adjunct professor of Astronomy at Wilmington University, is just the man to answer your questions. Brennan is the guest speaker at an event known as The Not-So-Secret Life of Stars to be held on Friday January 18, 2008 at 6:30pm in New Castle, Delaware.

The Buena Vista Conference Center, Delaware Department of State and the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs is sponsoring this event.

The event features a multimedia presentation that will include images of celestial bodies taken by the Hubble Telescope, and is being held at the Buena Vista Conference Center on Route 13 in New Castle, Delaware.

Thomas Brennan will give a presentation on the birth of stars, what stars do for a living, and finally, how and why stars die. He will also explore what happens to the remains of dead stars and why the "Star Mortuary" might be the most interesting aspect of the Not-So-Secret Life of Stars.

Visitors will be given a tour of the Buena Vista Conference Center, a nineteenth century country estate featuring beautiful gardens, as well as an opportunity to look at the night sky through various telescopes and binoculars.

The Not-So-Secret Life of Stars is a free event that is open to the public. Students should be in at least 9th grade to attend.
