Wilmington University Is “Thinking Pink” on February 5th

February 1, 2008—New Castle, DE. The Wilmington University Wildcats, along with the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), will be holding “Think Pink” night on Tuesday, February 5th, when the Lady Wildcats take on eighth ranked Holy Family University at 6:00 PM at the Pratt Gymnasium.

The WBCA's “Think Pink” initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond. “Think Pink” began in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness, WBCA started off with more than 120 school's unified for this effort. In just one year WBCA has grown to over 600 participants and 19 conference participants across the country that are holding similar events during the month of February.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. Those fans that are wearing pink will be given tickets that will be put into a drawing which will give them a chance to win various prizes throughout the women's basketball game. Members from Wilmington University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C) will be collecting donations for the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Research.

The Lady Wildcats women's basketball team will be wearing special “Think Pink” warm-up shirts before the game and will be wearing pink shoe laces during the game. Wilmington University athletic department personnel along with the Lady Wildcats coaching staff will be joining in and wearing special pink shirts as well.

“The WBCA is very excited to promote an initiative that touches all levels of our membership and unified them for such a great cause.” WBCA CEO Beth Bass said. “It has been remarkable to watch the support of this initiative grow from 120 schools last year to over 600 for 2008. With the help of each of our members, the women's basketball community can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.”
