The Monsters of Templeton, a novel about a family's dark history in the small town of Templeton, New York has already gained notoriety and has been called one of the most anticipated fiction debuts in recent years. Stephen King praised the novel in Entertainment Weekly saying "The Monsters of Templeton is everything a reader might have expected from this gifted writer, and more...I was sorry to see this rich and wonderful novel come to an end."

"The day I returned to Templeton steeped in disgrace, the 50-foot corpse of a monster surfaced in Lake Glimmerglass," reads the first sentence of the novel that spans two centuries. Follow the trails of protagonist Willie Upton as she arrives on the doorstep of her ancestral home in Templeton, New York expecting to find a place to hide from the disastrous affair she had with her married archeology professor. Instead, she finds a monster's corpse in the town's lake, a swarm of family secrets and clues about her heritage. The Monsters of Templeton is a riveting read and a virtuoso performance that establishes Lauren Groff as one of the best young writers of our time.

Lauren Groff was born in 1978. Her short stories have appeared in literary publications including The Atlantic Monthly, The Best American Short Stories, Ploughshares, and Pushcart Prize XXXII.
