Sexuality Counseling: 10 Things Your Graduate Schools Never Told You
March 20, 2008New Castle, DE. The Delaware Counseling Association and the Delaware Mental Health Counselors Association is proud to announce a full-day spring conference and workshop: Sexuality Counseling, Ten Things Your Graduate School Never Taught You. The conference will be held of Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Doberstein Admissions Center on Wilmington University's main campus. The program is open to professionals in the behavioral health field including direct care providers and their supervisors, and anyone interested in learning more about treatment options for sexual disorders.
This full-day conference offers 2 half-day workshops by a distinguished group of presenters (featuring world-renown sex therapy expert Dr. Barry McCarthy) addressing a variety of topics related to sexuality issues in counseling.
Dr. Barry McCarthy will be teaching the first workshop "Integrating Sexual Interventions in Couple Counseling". Dr. McCarthy is an internationally recognized expert on human sexuality and relationships and a professor of psychology at American University. In the afternoon people have a choice between two workshops, "Self Awareness: Transference and Counter-transference Issues in Counseling Sexuality Issues" by Dr. Craig William, and "Sexuality: Variances in Behavior – An In Depth Look" by Dr. Deborah Laino.
Dr. Craig Williams taught Human Sexuality Counseling at the graduate level at various universities during his career as a counselor educator. Currently, Dr. Williams is the Coordinator of the MS in Community Counseling program at Wilmington University where he also teaches group counseling and supervises practicum and internship students. Dr. Laino is in private practice with multiple offices throughout Delaware. Dr. Laino is an adjunct instructor at Wilmington University and University of Phoenix as well as a published author.
