Wilmington University Set To Host NCAA Division II Men's Golf Super Regional Tournament
April 30, 2008New Castle, DE. Wilmington University will host the upcoming NCAA Division II Men's Golf Super Regional Tournament May 5th through the 7th at Back Creek Golf Course at St. Anne's Club in Middletown, Delaware.
Overall, 80 teams and 50 individuals have been selected to participate in the super regional tournament. There are five super regional events that encompass the current ten regions. Wilmington will host the Northeast and East regions at the par 71 course.
The top ten teams from each region within the super regional, and the top individuals from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14th through the 17th at the Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas. Ten additional teams will earn acceptance into the finals, depending on the previous three-year average of top-ten finishes of a super regional at the finals.

- Indiana (Pennsylvania)

This will be the first time that a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institution has ever hosted a NCAA Golf super regional event. Wilmington University is making their first ever appearance at a NCAA regional tournament. The Wildcats are led by All-CACC selection, junior Vince Nardo (St. Elizabeth's High School, Newark, DE). Also expected to compete are senior captain Lorne Shannon (William Penn High School, New Castle, DE), junior Mark Murphy (Salesianum HS/Wilmington, DE), and junior captain John Purple, Jr. (Cape Henlopen HS/Rehoboth, DE). Wilmington University is coached by Harry Jennings and assisted by Bill Bush.
