U.S Air Force Veteran Receives Wilmington University Scholarship
Kathy Mayan Will Earn Her Master's Degree
Kathy Mayan.
U.S. Air Force veteran Kathy Mayan of Westminster, Md., is the recipient of the Sandra L. and Thomas S. Shaw Scholarship from Wilmington University. Mayan will receive a $5,000 scholarship to pursue her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree.
The scholarship, made possible through donations from Sandra and Thomas Shaw, is available to honorably discharged veterans, active military, or immediate family members of veterans who have graduated from the University.
As Institutional Advancement Coordinator at Carroll Community College Foundation, Mayan produces fundraising literature and provides leadership for special events. She has also served on the Carroll Aquatics Board of Directors, volunteered as swim coach for high school swimmers, and supported the Carroll County Special Olympics swimmers. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Wilmington University graduating Suma Cum Laude.
Mayan was a resident of Dover, Del. for many years where she served as Senior Program Director of the YMCA. She currently resides in Westminster, Md.
