The Wilmington University College of Health Professions is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Veronica Wilbur as chair of the University’s new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, effective January 2, 2013.
Veronica was influential in creating the curriculum for the new doctoral degree in her previous position as chair of the Master of Science Nurse Practitioner program. In her new role, she spearheads the DNP program as she steers the curriculum, interviews potential students, teaches and acts as student advisor throughout the program.
With over 32 years of nursing experience, Veronica holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from University of Delaware (1980) then earned a Master’s in nursing from Widener University in 1987. She also received her Ph.D. in nursing from Widener in 2008.
Veronica is an active member in professional organizations and currently co-chairs member resources for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). She has presented nationally for NONPF and for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program was created to produce the most competent nurse clinicians to meet the nation’s increasingly complex healthcare needs. The new program at Wilmington University is part of the initiative by American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) for advanced practice nurses with a clinical focus to graduate from doctoral practice by 2015.
