Annual Blood Drive Time at Wilmington University

Wildcats are encouraged to “Be a Hero” and save a life.

Wilmington University encourages everyone to take a few minutes and be someone's hero by donating blood at the annual Employee and Student Blood Drive.

This year's drive will take place at the New Castle campus Doberstein Admissions Center on March 19, 2013, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. All faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to donate.

The drive is hosted by Wilmington University Human Resources and the Blood Bank of Delmarva. “Last year, about 40 donors supported the event and we look to increase this year to our goal of 50 – especially in the number of students that donate,” said Jennifer Workman, Human Resources Wellness Coordinator at the University.

"This year, as an extra donor incentive, each participant will also be entered into a raffle to win a $100 Visa gift card!" she added.

To select a time to donate, visit calendar.wilmu.edu and select any time under the date of March 19. Once you click on a time within that date, simply follow the instructions in the pop-up box.

Blood donors must be 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and cannot have had any body piercings or tattoos within the last 12 months. All donors must show a photo ID prior to giving blood.

Blood Bank of Delmarva is a nonprofit community service organization that provides blood and blood products to 16 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. More than 77,000 blood donations are needed in this area each year for about 20,000 patients across the Delmarva Peninsula.
