Wilmington University Doctoral Student Appointed Interim Superintendent of School District

Wilmington University doctoral student Kelly Griffith was named interim superintendent for Maryland’s Talbot County School District. She assumed the position following the retirement of Dr. Karen Salmon.

The Talbot County Board of Education members voted to appoint Mrs. Griffith as the interim superintendent at Talbot County’s Board of Education meeting on May 15.

Mrs. Griffith received her Master's in Educational Leadership from Salisbury State University in 1991 and has over 25 years of experience working with the district. She has served as assistant principal, then as principal of Chapel District, Easton Elementary, Easton Middle, and Easton High Schools. She was also Director of Student Programs and School Improvement and has been involved in many educational and professional associations. She was also President of the Maryland Association for Elementary School Administration in 2005.

"Mrs. Griffith brings commitment to our community, a wealth of experience and a track record of success to this position," said Talbot County Board of Education President Robert Burris. She will serve as superintendent as the board conducts a national search for a permanent successor to Dr. Salmon.
