Wilmington Men’s Cross Country Moves Up to No. 3 in Latest USTFCCCA East Regional Poll

After an unprecedented performance at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet on Sunday the Wilmington University men’s cross country team moved up one spot in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II East Region Rankings on Tuesday.

The Wildcats captured its second straight CACC Championship on Sunday, sweeping the Top-5 positions to earn a record 15 points. All seven runners earned All-CACC honors for placing in the Top-15.

On Tuesday, the Wildcats moved up a spot in the East Region rankings and now sit in third behind Stonehill and Franklin Pierce of the Northeast 10 Conference.

The Wildcats started the season as the No. 5 team in the East Region before moving to the No. 4 spot in the fourth regular season poll. After two weeks in fourth, the Wildcats now sit in third with a week before the NCAA East Region Meet on November 9.

After dropping to No. 3 in the fifth regional poll before returning to the top spot following the NE-10 Conference Meet. Franklin Pierce dropped from the top spot to No. 2 after placing second in the NE-10 Championship on Sunday.

The NCAA East Regional Championship will take place on November 9 at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The top three teams from the East Regional Championship advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship on November 23.
