The Kent and Sussex Country Alumni Chapter is Exploring Historic Dover

A night of laughs and learning in the Capital

On Friday, August 21st, the Kent and Sussex County Chapter of the WilmU Alumni Association will be hosting a Wildcat Meet-Up in Dover.  The attendees will meet at the Johnson Victrola Museum at 7:00 PM, and proceed to the Historic Old Methodist Cemetery for a walking lantern tour, presented by the First State Heritage Park.  This tour will be full of history, humor and sorrow, as stories are told of real Delawareans from the state’s past centuries. According to eventful.com, “The stories of those buried in this historic cemetery help reveal the meanings behind the elaborate rituals associated with death and mourning.  Uncover the meanings of the carefully chosen and crafted funeral art that decorates the tombs of the high and low alike and what those symbols might reveal about the people buried beneath them.”

The evening will conclude at the beautiful Governor’s Café on Kings Highway.  The Governor’s Café is a beautifully appointed gathering spot that is regionally known for having great food, coffee, wine and spirits.  This will be a great chance for guests to relax and connect with fellow alumni in a very comfortable setting.

The cost for the tour is $5, and will be collected at the time of the event.  Guests will be responsible for their own food and beverage at the Café.
