Event offers 50 hiring employers, veteran support organizations, a comprehensive job search workshop and more.

Supporting a joint effort with several military and veterans agencies, Military Affairs will hold a free "Hire a Vet" job fair on Monday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Dover location of Wilmington University located at 3282 North DuPont Highway, Building A, in Dover, Delaware.

The job fair, which is open to  members of the National Guard and Reserve, transitioning service members, retired veterans and military spouses, will also feature a job seekers workshop that will focus on resume writing, how to successfully navigate hiring fairs, how to translate military skills into skills employers are looking for and tips on interviewing for civilian positions.

Fifty hiring employers will be on site, many of whom will be interviewing candidates on the spot. Eight veteran support organizations will be on hand and a new addition, SUITING WARRIORS will be providing free suits to any veteran attendees who needs one for interview opportunities. Delaware Department of Labor's Mobile Career One Stop bus will also be at the Dover location, providing access to additional job listings and employment services.

“We are tremendously honored to host such a significant event!" said James Webb, Director of Military Affairs for Wilmington University. "This partnership has shown how a community can come together to highlight veteran service organizations and bring job opportunities to our service members, veterans and their families. This job fair is a powerful way for our university and the community to honor their service and sacrifice by helping these men and women in their transition to employment outside of the military."

Some of the hiring companies slated to be present at the job fair include: Allstate Insurance Company, Bank of America, Christiana Care, Delaware State Police, Dover Police Department, FedEx Ground, Pat’s Restaurant, Primerica, Starbucks Coffee Company and Wal-Mart Transportation. Support agencies will include: Airman & Family Readiness (Dover AFB) and the Vets and Small Business Administration from the Delaware Department of Labor.
