Wilmington University Hosts 2016 Northeast E-Learning Consortium on May 5

This conference for faculty, academic technologists and IT professionals is about ideas and innovation that support the online learning experience in higher education.

On Thursday, May 5, Wilmington University College of Online Learning & Educational Technology will host the 2016 Northeast E-learning Consortium from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Doberstein Admissions Center auditorium located on the main New Castle campus at 320 N. DuPont Highway.

Registration for the consortium is required. Click here to register online. Wilmington University faculty and staff will be admitted free of charge. The cost is $30 for non-Wilmington University attendees.

The Northeast E-learning Consortium is a regional users group comprised of institutions of higher education in addition to area businesses and which serves the greater Philadelphia educational community and includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York. Faculty, academic technologists, information technology professionals and others gather to learn and share ways in which technology and advanced administrative processes can enhance the online learning experience.

The conference keynote speaker is Sara Smith, social media editor for NBC 10 TV in Philadelphia. The conference will have over other 40 speakers from schools and businesses from as nearby as Philadelphia and Wilmington and as far away as Washington D.C. and Connecticut. Several directors of online learning programs will represent their colleges and universities as presenters. Click here for a complete agenda of speaker sessions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with colleagues from over 20 institutions across the Northeast, including Christiana Care Health Systems, Blackboard, Inc., Drexel University, Villanova University, W.L. Gore and Associates and Wilmington University, to name only a few. Over a dozen door prizes covering a wide range of high tech devices will be given away to lucky attendees. Those on Twitter can follow the event's live stream using  #NEELC as the hashtag.

“This event will be a true 'meeting of minds' and a great opportunity for attendees to learn from innovators they otherwise would not have the opportunity to meet,” said Adam Voyton, Wilmington University Instructional Technology Project Specialist. “The consortium brings together a diverse group of educational technology professionals to share their expertise on a wide variety of hot topics, like smart classrooms, artificial intelligence and its role in personalized learning, social media as a pedagogical tool and ways to foster student engagement. I encourage anyone who wants to learn new ways to use technology to improve the student learning experience to attend this conference.”
