Wildcats Come Home for Wilmington University 2016 Homecoming

Tailgating, activities and fun welcome students, returning alumni and friends in the community to Homecoming Weekend at the WilmU Sports Complex.

Tailgating. Food trucks. Family-friendly fun. Wilmington University's 2016 Homecoming on Saturday, September 17, has something to offer everyone. Starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Wilmington University Sports Complex at 1365 Pulaski Highway in Newark, returning alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and neighbors from surrounding communities can join in the festivities all day through 6:00 p.m.

Tailgaters may arrive at 9:00 a.m. at the University Sports Complex to get set up. There are a few choice pre-game tailgating locations left but hurry ... time is running out! Pre-register for your tailgate space by clicking here.

To see as many friends, classmates and neighbors as possible, make it a point to head over to the stadium to watch action packed, back-to-back NCAA Division II Wildcat men's and women's champion soccer matches with rival Bloomfield College. The 5 time champion Wilmington Wildcat Cheerleaders will perform during halftime at both games.

You can also enjoy plenty of fun activities with your friends and family throughout the day, including:

*  Build-a-Scarecrow

Scarecrows come in all shapes and sizes, so the one you build is sure to be unique. You can also create a "birth certificate" for your scarecrow and take it home with you! We'll supply everything you need to build your very own scarecrow, whether it's a scare baby or a frightful "full groan," The whole family can join in the fun.

*  Selfie Stations

Let others know you're a proud Wildcat! You can take selfies with your family and friends in places that help you show your pride. Take as many photos as you want, tag them with #WilmUHomecoming, then post them to Twitter, Instagram and all of your favorite social sites.

*  Crafts

We have lots of great ideas. We'll provide the supplies ... You provide the creativity and the fun!

*  Face Painting

From fairy tale princes and princesses, to scary monsters, to your favorite comic book character, our expert artists will help your children (and you!) look the part.

*  Caricatures

These over-exaggerated, hand-drawn portraits are real crowd pleasers that often become fun conversation pieces everywhere from the playroom to the office. Stop by and have yours drawn in just minutes!

Even if you have your own tailgate going on this year, you'll still work up an appetite during all of the festivities. There will be plenty of food trucks on hand with a wide variety of tasty options for everyone. Every attendee will receive free tickets to be used as game-day food currency at any of the food trucks. Additional tickets are available for $2 each.

Choose from great food selections from these vendors:

- Wandering Chef

- Backyard Louie's BBQ

- Plum Pit

- Scoops Ice Cream and Water Ice
