Get an Education That Works as Hard as You Do

Build your resume as you build your degree with dual-credit certificates from Wilmington University.

Everyone seems to be multitasking these days. Shouldn't your education be able to do the same? Wilmington University's dual-credit certificates allow undergraduate, graduate and mid-career students to specialize their skills and earn credits toward a degree at the same time.

This "stack-able" education option benefits learners at any stage of their professional lives, whether they're studying in the classroom or online.

Undergraduate and graduate students can earn certificates that allow them skill specialization that increases their skill level, customizes their degrees and allows greater distinction with current or potential employers.

Certificates add value to a degree without adding time or expense. Most can be earned through the courses that students are already taking and a majority of the certificates can be completed with as few as 5 courses.

For mid-career learners, certificates offer the ability to acquire additional training and the skills necessary to advance in evolving fields. They also allow those considering a career change to explore new fields before making the switch.

The dual-credit certificate programs are designed to fit your schedule with flexible course formats, class times and locations. Many certificates can be earned entirely online and there are a number that can be completed within a year. The affordable credits that students earn in the process can be applied toward undergraduate or graduate degree programs if they choose to pursue further education.

High school graduates can also benefit from the dual-credit certificate programs. If a student is not yet ready to commit to a degree program but recognizes the value of gaining career-related skills , dual-credit certificates can serve as stepping stones to employment as well as to possible college degrees.

"Dual-credit certificates respond to both a changing view of higher education and a demand for retooling and retraining in more manageable steps," said Dr. Jim Wilson, Vice President, Academic Affairs at Wilmington University.

"People want micro-degrees and micro-programs. We've developed opportunities for them to get very focused learning in a systematic, compact way," Wilson said. "It's a good opportunity for students and for employers."

Wilmington University currently offers certificates in more than 50 subject areas and more are being added every semester. Each program is taught by the same real-world experienced professionals who teach its degree courses.

"The volume of choices that we offer would have to be impressive to anyone weighing their education options," Wilson added.
